Covid-19: hospitalizations among children explode in New York

 Pediatric hospitalizations are exploding in New York. On Boxing Day, the United States faces an extremely powerful epidemic wave with nearly 190,000 new cases daily over the past seven days. As a result, hospital admissions are also increasing.

 In New York State, the health situation is complicated as pediatric admissions worry. In New York City alone, "admissions quadrupled" between the week of December 5 and that of December 19. The New York State Department of Health said services are "closely monitoring" this trend.

 The State further explains that during this same period, only one in four patients aged 12 to 17 was fully vaccinated.

 For one in two cases, the patients concerned are less than five years old. A public that is not yet concerned by vaccination. To date, only individuals over the age of five can access it in the United States.

 On December 24, New York State urged "parents to immunize their children as soon as possible." At the same date, only 16% of 5-11 year olds were completely immunized by vaccination according to the health authority.
