goodbye Max Julien

".The American actor Max Julien of great renown in the field of cinema died on Saturday January 1, 2022 at the age of 88. This actor who had played, among others, the hero of the film "The Mack" in 1973, is certainly the symbol of blaxpoltation

Max Julien had marked the spirits by embodying this film. He would be an irreplaceable actor given his temperament and his determination when he played his role in films with very complex scripts.

It was a person who engages in a movement which is called the “blaxpoltation” born at the beginning of the Seventies and which marked the importance of the Afro_Africans in the American cinema. This sociological and cultural current marked the beginning of black characters in the roles of heroes in cinema and television, instead of those of acolytes, villains or victims of brutality.

    From Broadway to Hollywood

Max Julien had started his career on the Off Broadway stage in New York. In Hollywood, he had also co-starred with Jack Nicholson in "Psych-Out" in 1968 and with Candice Bergen in the hit movie "Getting Straight" in 1970.

While in Rome, Italy, he wrote and directed a documentary called "Trestevre", then wrote the screenplay and subsequently co-produced the Warner Brothers "blaxploitation" classic "Cleopatra Jones", which starred actress Tamara Dobson in the title role in 1973.

All things have value in the eyes of those who love him deeply. He was more than a star and his heroic journey testifies to his great career in American cinema, leaving room of course for his valiant friends who share with him the same blood who flow in the same fountain, if one has correctly placed the right term. Indeed, this face will remain forever engraved in the minds of people who wish to become actors. Max Julien is an actor and a man who has given himself value because when actions bear witness to it, the rest is nothing but stupidity.
