Grichka Bogdanoff, one of the star twins of the 1980s, died of Covid-19

He was best known for the science fiction show "Temps X", which aired from 1979 to 1987, co-hosted with his brother Igor, who was also hospitalized. Both were not vaccinated against Covid-19.

Grichka Bogdanoff, one of the brothers of the emblematic duo that he forms with Igor, notably known for having hosted the science fiction program "Temps X", broadcast from 1979 to 1987, died Tuesday, December 28 in Paris, in age 72, his agent said. "Surrounded by the love of his family and his loved ones, Grichka Bogdanoff passed away peacefully to join his stars," his family wrote in a statement from his agent.

According to our information, Grichka Bogdanoff was hospitalized on December 15 in the intensive care unit of the Georges-Pompidou Hospital, after contracting Covid-19. On the same day, his brother Igor was also received in the same department of this establishment, for identical reasons. According to a source close to the two brothers, they were not vaccinated against Covid-19.

Doctors in physics and mathematics, writers, television hosts, descendants of the Austrian aristocracy, figures of popular science for the general public and subjects of controversy for researchers ... in more than forty years of public life, Igor and Grichka Bogdanoff (who replaced the spelling of their name in "Bogdanov", signature of their works from the 1990s) have accumulated as much popular success as mockery on the mixture of genres they maintain, between theories on general relativity and passion for science fiction.

The romance of the origins of the Bogdanoffs, which they were the first to feed, participated as much in the mystery surrounding their characters as the story of the transformation of their faces: both have repeatedly denied the existence of a disease such as acromegaly or the use of cosmetic surgery. "We are, with Igor, experimenters," Grichka was limited to reveal in an interview, about the shape taken by their chins and cheekbones from the mid-1990s. In the experiment, there are a certain number of small protocols. These are very advanced technologies, which is why the mystery has lasted so long. "

At the helm of the show "Temps X", from 1979 on TF1, the Bogdanoff brothers stood out in the French audiovisual landscape with period special effects and hard-wearing silver suits, worn for nine seasons in front of numerous guests, such as Jacques. Attali, Jean-Michel Jarre, Jean-Claude Mézières, or even Frédéric Beigbeder, who at 13 made his first television appearance there. On the set, Igor and Grichka demonstrate objects of anticipation, more or less at the cutting edge of technology: “the machine to translate”, “the magic dictation” or the “astro-computer”, which guesses your astrological chart from your date of birth.

 Scientific controversies

In 1987, when TF1 was privatized, the program ceased. A long period of abstinence from the media began for the duo, and with it the first controversies.

Since then, the appearances of the twins have become rarer: Igor Bogdanoff makes headlines again when he is taken into custody in November 2017, following a complaint from a former companion, to whom he would have introduced himself break. In June 2018, they were indicted for "fraud on a vulnerable person", suspected by the justice of having taken advantage of the vulnerability and financial largesse of a 54-year-old millionaire, who committed suicide on August 31, 2018 In addition to the Bogdanoff brothers, four other people were to be referred in this case to the Paris Criminal Court on January 20 and 21, 2022.

The lawyers of the Bogdanoff brothers, Eric Morain and Edouard Lamaze, had warned the courts, before Christmas, of the medical situation of their client and planned to request the postponement of the trial. On Tuesday, Grichka Bogdanoff's lawyers indicate, in a press release, that this trial "was by no means a topical issue for him and for his twin brother as they considered themselves foreign to the charges and scandalized by unfounded accusations". "This procedure is therefore terminated as it stands against him," they add, "and he will remain permanently presumed innocent. "
